Value of 1759 Quebec Medal

This rare medal celebrates the English victory over the French in Quebec, 1759. Obverse displays a bust of Britannia, facing to the left, her hair bound and her name on the legend above her head. Beneath her, a trident and an antique standard cross under a laurel wreath. Sanders’ name is engraved under the trident and Wolfe’s name is under the standard. Reverse displays a winged Victory holding a laurel wreath and crowning the French arms. A naked prisoner is tied to the base of the arms. The legend reads, “Quebec taken 1759” and in exergue, “The Society for promoting Arts and Commerce”.
