Value of 1761 Proclamation over Santo Domingo Medal

This medal proclaims Charles III as ruler over Santo Domingo. Obverse depicts a bust of Charles III, facing to the right wearing a robe and a full wig. The legend translates, “King Charles III”. The reverse legend simply states, “Hispaniola”which translates to “Little Spain”. Depicted on the reverse is a key, facing to the left and supported on either side by a lion. The coronet of a Count tops the key, but the name and importance of this particular Count is unknown.
