This medal was struck for the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia in 1845. The obverse displays a bust of Benjamin Franklin. The legend around reads, “FRANKLIN INSTITUTE OF THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA.” The reverse displays a wreath surrounded a legend on the reverse. The legend reads, “THE SCOTT PREMIUM TO THE MOST DESERVING.” There are various reverses that state different years. This is one of the largest of the Franklin medals.
