This medal commemorates the Philadelphia Sanitary Fair. The obverse a woman holding supplies while aiding a doctor. The legend around reads, “WE GIVE OUR WEALTH FOR THOSE WHO GIVE THEIR HEALTH FOR US; PAQUET F.; SCHUSSELE INV.” The reverse lacks an image but reads, “IN COMMEMORATION OF THE GREAT CENTRAL FAIR FOR THE U.S. SANITARY COMMISSION HELD AT PHILADELPHIA JUNE 1864.” Records state 4 silver and 901 bronze medals were struck.
