The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads Souvenir visit of U.S. Naval fleet San Diego, Cal. Rear Admiral Evans, Fighting Bob, 1908. The front side of the coin shows a bust of Admiral Evans, known as Fighting Bob, in the center and facing the right side of the medal, the date to either side and text surrounding in two lines. The backside of the coin depicts the sun setting behind the three ships in the center, water below and the rays behind, a beaded border surrounds the scene.
