The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads 100th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence July 4, 1876 and the reverse text is 1876 Dedicated to the Children of America. The front side of the coin shows a bust of Washington facing the left with a wreath surrounding his head made of palm leaves and oak leaves, text surrounding in two lines above and one line below. The backside of the coin depicts laurel and oak leaf wreath surrounding the inner decorative text with the date at the upper center of the medal.
