The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads Hendrik Hudson 1609 and the reverse text is Nieuw Amsterdam MCMIX H I Daalder. The front side of the coin shows a bust of Hudson facing the right in his formal ruffled collar shirt, a beaded border surrounds his bust with descriptive text. The backside of the coin depicts a large, cartoonish ship in the center with sails drawn and water below, Roman numerals below and text above, all within the beaded border.
