The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads New Orleans Feb. 22 1884 and the reverse text is Souvenir Unveiling of Statue Gen. Robert E. Lee Feb. 22 1884 Born Jan 19 1807 Died Oct. 12 1870. The front side of the coin shows a statue in the center, or otherwise called a large monument, with fences and landscapes surrounding the monument, text arching over the top of the coin with the date appearing on the right upper side. The backside of the coin depicts a virtually closed wreath with lines of text within, the text is decorative and carries style with it as opposed to most of the dollars from this series.
