The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads Imitation of Famous California fifty dollar gold slug, used by the Pioneers 1850, United States of America fifty dolls. 000 Thou and the reverse text is California Centennial Celebration 1850 1950. The front side of the coin shows an eagle in the center with a ribbon in its mouth and a shield below, surrounded by text.
