The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads 100th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence July 4, 1876 and the reverse text is 1876 Dedicated to the Children of America. The front side of the coin shows a bust of Washington with cloth draped over his shoulder and surrounded by oak and palm fronds, two lines of text above his head and a date in the lower center of the dollar. The backside of the coin depicts a wreath surrounding all centered text on the coin with decorative date text above.
