The front side of the coin shows a portrait of Christopher Columbus in draped clothing facing the left with an open wreath surrounding and text on the outer edge. The backside of the coin depicts the Statue of Liberty in the center with the star shaped island located below the statue of the female, text is above and in a single line below.
