The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads The Port of New York Authority New York International Airport Dedication July 31, 1948, 4,900 acres & terminal area 100 acres, 10 miles of runways, cost 160,000,000, Construction started by the City of New York April 1942 and the reverse text is New York International Airport. The front side of the coin shows wings in the center with two buildings to the lower left and right and descriptive text throughout giving specifics of the airport. The backside of the coin depicts an aerial view of the runways and terminals at the airport, with clouds and text scattered throughout.
