The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads Prosperity To All Nations Ocean intersea Columbia conunguniur and the reverse text is Commemorating the opening of the Panama Canal to the commerce of the World, this medal copyrighted and bearing a serial number is one of 50000 carried on the vessel making the first passage through the Panama Canal as authenticated in certificate signed by † Chief Engineer and Chairman 15thmian Canal Commission. The front side of the coin shows an angel in the upper center of the coin with a banner held in her hands, globes to either side of the coin and a banner on top, a small eagle below at the angel’s feet. The backside of the coin depicts a shield in the upper center, or rather a seal, with lines of text listed below and a serial number at the bottom, text changes between curved and straight throughout the coin.
