The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads William Penn and the reverse text is Presented by Lincoln Institution Philadelphia, Bi-Centennial of Pennsylvania October 1882. The front side of the coin shows a bust of William Penn facing to the left with a hat on and his name surrounding him to either side. The backside of the coin depicts four lines of text in the center surrounded by a beaded border with circular text surrounding and two stars appearing on the medal.
