The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads Alaska, Jan. 3, 1959, 49th State and the reverse text is Hawaii 50th State, Aug 21, 1959. The front side of the coin shows the outline of the state of Alaska in the center with a large star to the left of the state, 13 stars to the right side of the state, a border skewed surrounding the design and text above and below. The backside of the coin depicts the date of admittance is written below the outline of Hawaii, the city names are written over individual islands with a large star to the left and 13 stars to the right of the design, large text surrounding.
