The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads The centennial year of our National Independence 1876 and the reverse text is 1776 battle of Long Island August 27 3 New York. The front side of the coin shows George Washington’s bust in the center with 34 stars surrounding and text to the outer edge, the date positioned in the lower center of the coin. The backside of the coin depicts a star and rays in the center with the date held within, an oak wreath surrounds the text and the inner designs.
