Value of 1890-CC $20 Double Eagle

The 1890-CC double eagle is well-produced, characterized by sharp striking detail and strong luster in a satin, frosty or semi-prooflike finish. Most examples are moderately to heavily abraded, typical of Carson City Mint double eagles. This is one of the most plentiful Carson City Mint double eagles with circulated examples readily obtainable in grades up to and including AU-58. In Mint State the 1890-CC is scarce in an absolute sense, although lower end examples in the MS-60 to MS-62 grade range are not all that difficult to locate. This issue is very rare in MS-63 and unknown any finer.
