History, Information, and Value of 1923-D Peace Dollar

Value of 1923 Denver Mint Peace Silver Dollar

Typically, the 1923-D Peace dollar will possess a strong strike. Higher grade coins in MS-64 and MS-65 are plentiful enough to be affordable to most collectors. Avoid coins with a lackluster finish, a weak strike, or unsightly marks or toning on Liberty’s face and neck. Bagmarks are common.
Circulated 1923-D Coins Are Worth Silver: Always available in EF and AU with a little hunting, but this is not a grade range that many collectors are drawn to. This coin was minted at the Denver Mint.
Be Selective When Buying MS 1923-D $1 Coins: Name your grade and you can probably find one without a lot of trouble. MS-60 to 63 pieces abound in the marketplace but are not so popular as the MS-64 and MS-65 grades due to the ready affordability of the higher grades for the date. You should have little difficulty finding a nicely struck and lustrous example, but be sure to compare multiple coins until you find the one that’s just right for you.

The obverse text on the Peace Dollar reads “Liberty; In God We Trvst (Trust); 1923.” The reverse text on the silver dollar reads “United States of America; E Pluribus Unum; One Dollar; Peace; D.” The obverse of the coin has a bust of a female facing the left with a pointed crown and flowing hair. The reverse of the Peace Dollar has an eagle sitting on a rock in the center with rays in the background.
