History, Information, and Value of 1927-D Peace Dollar

Value of 1927 Denver Mint Peace Silver Dollar

The Denver Mint issued good quality 1927-D Peace dollars, typically with strong strikes and strong luster. Many coins were released into circulation. Within the series, the 1927-D is the second rarest overall in Uncirculated condition. If your budget permits we advise you to seek a coin in a grade of MS-64 or 65.
Even High Grade Circ 1927-D $1s Can Be Tough: EF and AU pieces can be found but are scarce. Look for and cherrypick a coin that hasn’t suffered much in circulation with minimal marks and some retained luster. While somewhat limited in supply, the price should still be very reasonable.
MS-66 1927-D Silver Dollars Are Very Valuable: Most collectors avoid the MS-60 to MS-62 grade range when they can afford to, as a pleasing MS-63 or MS-64 coin is always a safe bet. MS-65 coins can be found with a little effort, but anything above that grade is sure to prove elusive and costly. For this semi-key date, good strike, good eye appeal, and good luster are yours for the taking if you keep an eye out.

The obverse text on the Peace Dollar reads “Liberty; In God We Trvst (Trust); 1927.” The reverse text on the silver dollar reads “United States of America; E Pluribus Unum; One Dollar; Peace; D.” The obverse of the coin has a bust of a female facing the left with a pointed crown and flowing hair. The reverse of the Peace Dollar has an eagle sitting on a rock in the center with rays in the background.
