History, Information, and Value of 1972 Type 2 Eisenhower Dollar

Value of 1972 Type 2 Eisenhower Dollar

The 1972 Type 2 Eisenhower Dollar is by far the most scarcest of the thre different types and are often heavily bagmarked. Many of the graded coins are poor quality. The Type 2 wasn’t issued in mint sets which, in turn, makes it more scarce. Sharp coins can be found, but it will take far more effort than a poorly struck coin will.

The text on the Eisenhower $1 coin reads as follows. Obverse: LIBERTY; Date; IN GOD WE TRUST | Reverse: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA; E PLURIBUS UNUM; ONE DOLLAR.

If the text on your Eisenhower Dollar does not match what is shown above, then your coin may either be fake or a different variety not yet discovered.
