History, Information, and Value of 1852 Franklin Institute Second Premium Medal
This medal was struck for the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia in 1845. The obverse displays a bust of Benjamin Franklin. The legend around reads, “FRANKLIN INSTITUTE OF THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA, 1824; GOBRECHT.” The reverse displays a wreath surrounded a legend on the reverse. The legend reads, “AWARDED TO SECOND PREMIUM.” There are various reverses that state different years.
