This medal honors the Lancaster County Agricultural and Mechanical Society located in Pennsylvania. The obverse displays a bust of George Washington. Around the image the legend reads, “LANCASTER CO. AGRICULTURAL & MECHANICAL SOCIETY; 1858; THE FARMER OF MOUNT VERNON; KEY F.” The reverse displays a broken column and various other farming tools. The legend around reads, “AWARDED TO:” with space for an engraving. The Mint did not create further medals after 1870, since they believed the dies were unsuitable for use.
