History, Information, and Value of 1881 Massachusetts Charitable Mechanic Association Fourteenth Exhibition Medal

This medal was commissioned by the Massachusetts Charitable Mechanic Association. The obverse displays a woman sitting and facing to the left. She is surrounded by various scientific and industrial tools. The legend around reads, “BE JUST AND FEAR NOT; F.N. MITCHELL SC.” The reverse displays a wreath surrounded by the legend along the outer edge of the medal. At the top is an arm and a hammer. The legend reads, “AWARDED TO THE FOURTEENTH EXHIBITION 1881, MASSACHUSETTS CHARITABLE MECHANIC ASSOCIATION. FOUNDED 1795; INC. 1806.”
