History, Information, and Value of 1890 Morgan Dollar

Value of 1890-S Morgan Silver Dollar

The San Francisco Mint turned out dollars this year that were well struck, lustrous, and very attractive. Choice and gem examples are well within the reach of most collectors. The 1890-S Morgan Silver Dollar is one of the more available Morgan dollars in Mint State. There were no proofs minted at the San Francisco mint for this year.
You Should Have No Problem Finding This Common $1 Coin: EF and AU specimens are always available.
Shoot for a 64 When Searching for UNCs: Not a common date in Mint State, but not a great rarity either, so the worth of the coin won’t differ much. MS-63 and 64 coins are in abundance, and if your tastes run a little finer, gems and ultra-gems are available to those with patience. MS-64 is an optimal grade in our opinion.

The obverse text on the Morgan Dollar reads “Liberty; E Pluribus Unum; 1890.” The reverse text on the Liberty dollar reads “United States of America; In God We Trust; One Dollar; S.” The obverse of the silver one dollar coin has a bust of a female facing the left wearing a cap and small crown, with flowers tucked in her hair and stars surrounding the border. The reverse of the Morgan Dollar has an eagle in the center with its wings spread and a wreath surrounding.
