History, Information, and Value of 1914-S St. Gaudens $20 Gold

Value of 1914-S St. Gaudens $20 Gold

The typical 1914-S St. Gaudens is sharply struck with attractive satin to frosty luster and, particularly in lower Mint State grades, numerous abrasions.
With thousands of coins having been repatriated from foreign sources beginning in the late 20th century, the 1914-S is one of the most common pre-1920 issues in the Saint-Gaudens double eagle series. Examples are obtainable with ease in grades up to and including MS-65. Even in MS-66, although moderately scarce, the 1914-S is relatively easy to acquire. Highest graded honors at the leading third-party certification services go to a pair of MS-66s listed at NGC.
