The 1969 Lincoln Memorial Cent was the first year that new Lincoln cent dies has been put into place. The dies were reworked with the same design to help replace the old worn out dies. For that reason, most coins can be found in full detail. Much speculation has surrounded the Double Die variety from 1969. As most research and books will state, a majority of the 1969 Double Dies are actually fakes.
The text on the Lincoln one cent coin reads as follows. Obverse: LIBERTY; Date; IN GOD WE TRUST | Reverse: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA; E PLURIBUS UNUM; ONE CENT.
