History, Information, and Value of 1971-S Lincoln Memorial Cent

Value of 1971-S Lincoln Memorial Cent

The 1971-S Lincoln Memorial Cents are very common because they were often purchased by investors to hoard. The San Francisco Mint was a popular mintmark to hoard and therefore, when the coin didn’t garner as much popularity as though, was extremely common. There is a double die variation found with the 1971-S that has slight doubling on the “Liberty”.

The text on the Lincoln one cent coin reads as follows. Obverse: LIBERTY; Date; IN GOD WE TRUST; S (San Francisco) | Reverse: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA; E PLURIBUS UNUM; ONE CENT.

Most Lincoln Memorial $0.01 coins are easily found as circulation coinage. If you are looking to purchase one of these coins, they can typically be found with little difficulty.
