History, Information, and Value of 1979-S Lincoln Memorial Cent
Value of 1979-S Lincoln Memorial Cent
There tend to be two different varieties of 1979-S Lincoln Memorial Cents. The first is with a filled S mintmark. These coins have a blob rather than a crisp mark. They do not bring a premium, but it is a variety to add to your collection. The second type is a clear S mintmark. This was a result of a new punch being created that made a well defined mintmark rather than the blob. This, also, does not carry a premium.
The text on the Lincoln one cent coin reads as follows. Obverse: LIBERTY; Date; IN GOD WE TRUST; S (San Francisco) | Reverse: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA; E PLURIBUS UNUM; ONE CENT.
