The 2000 $1 Silver Leif Ericson Commemorative Coin was sold in a two coin set, although we are only focusing on the coin designed by the United States of America. To commemorate the 1,000th anniversary of the founding of the “New World,” the United States agreed to produce a set of coins with Iceland. This coin is the United States half. Both coins were produced in the United States mint, though, as Iceland didn’t have the proper equipment to mass produce. The set of coins opened with a price of $68. It is not popular to see these coins separated nowadays. This coin was minted at the Philadelphia Mint.
