The 2008 $5 Gold Bald Eagle Commemorative Coin is similar to the other denomination commemoratives that represent the bald eagles. Eagles have been hunted, almost to extinction. This coin is meant to raise that awareness. The obverse of the coin shows two eagles perched in a tree and the reverse shows a heraldic eagle with a shield across its chest. This coin was minted at the West Point Mint.
