History, Information, and Value of 1584 Sir Walter Raleighs Plantation Medal

Value of 1584 Sir Walter Raleighs Plantation Medal

This extremely rare medal is possibly connected to the disastrous Lost Colony and Sir Walter Raleigh, although this connection cannot be fully proven. The front of the token bears the words in two full circles surrounding a rose. Reverse is crudely created, with what appears to be a cherub sitting on a skull, a rose at his feet, the entire scene encircled by a snake with its tail in its mouth. The actual purpose, date, and origin on this medal are unknown. There is no artist signature.
