This medal was struck for the Massachusetts Horticultural Society. The obverse displays two women holding flowers, grapes, and leaves. There is no legend, merely the artist’s signature which reads, “F. N. MITCHELL F BOSTON.” The reverse displays a wreath surrounding two shields bearing the arms of the United States and Massachusetts. The legend reads, “MASSACHUSETTS HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.” These medals were struck up through the late 1880s.
