This token typically receives the Hard Times Designation of HT-154.

The obverse text reads “American Institute New York, H” and the reverse text reads “Copy of a Gold Medal Awarded to R & W Robinson, For the Best Military, Naval, Sporting, & Plain Flat Buttons, 1836.” The obverse of the token shows the American Institute Statue with an eagle and ship surrounding, and the reverse has text without a banner over the words.
