The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads Speramus-Meliora 1701 1901 Resurget-Cineribus and the reverse text is Bi-Centennial of the Founding of Detroit Mich July 24-26 1901. The front side of the coin shows two female figures standing side-by-side in the center with the city in the background, text around them, and stars along the border. The backside of the coin depicts a large leafy wreath surrounding lines of text in the center.
