Value of 1903-S $20 Double Eagle

This sharply struck double eagle is also known for having excellent luster in high grades. It can be challenging to locate a relatively smooth looking coin as most survivors have numerous abrasions. While not the most plentiful Liberty Head double eagle from the 20th century, the 1903-S double eagle has a large enough population that it is encountered frequently in grades through MS-64. A small number of Gems in MS-65 have been graded, and they constitute the finest certified examples known to PCGS and NGC.
