The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads Alaska, Jan. 3, 1959, 49th State and the reverse text is Hawaii 50th State, Aug 21, 1959. The front side of the coin shows 13 stars and a small circle surrounding the outline of the state of Alaska, positioned in the offset center of the coin, a large star to the left side of the coin and text surrounding above and below. The backside of the coin depicts a single star to the left side of the coin with 13 stars set off to the right side of the coin, an outline of Hawaii in the center with the admission date written below and text surrounding above and below.
