The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads The centennial year of our National Independence 1876 and the reverse text is Battle of Lake Champlain October 11 & 12 1776 5 New York. The front side of the coin shows a circle of text and 34 stars surrounds the bust of President Washington in the center and the date is found below. The backside of the coin depicts a series of rays around a circle with the date in the center, a wreath made of oak leaves surrounds the text and the sun in the center.
