The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads Alaska, Jan. 3, 1959, 49th State and the reverse text is Hawaii 50th State, Aug 21, 1959. The front side of the coin shows text surrounding the entire coin with a large star to the left side and 13 stars on the right border, the outline of the state in the center with text above and below. The backside of the coin depicts text surrounding the outline of the State of Hawaii in the center with the dates below and a single large star to the left and 13 more small stars to the right.
