The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads Semi Centennial Jubilee Gold Discovery, Jan. 24 San Francisco, Cal, 1848 1898 and the reverse text is 1848 1898. The front side of the coin shows three gold miners in the center looking at the gold that has been found, decorative and embellished text in the center with dates to either side, a beaded border surrounds. The backside of the coin depicts a horse an buggy illustration on the top portion of the coin and a train illustration on the lower portion of the coin, surrounded by a beaded border and with dates below each mode of transportation.
