The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads Commemorating the sesquicentennial of the Louisiana Purchase, Mfgd for & Distd. By Oddehon St. Louis, MO. 1803 1953 and the reverse text is Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase. The front side of the coin shows three lines of text below the horse and its rider, facing the left, with a date over the rear end of the horse with circular text running along the outer border of the coin. The backside of the coin depicts a map of North America with the Louisiana Purchase clearly outlined and descriptive text surrounding.
