The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads Non Sibi Sed Suis, Centennial of Louisiana Statehood, 1812 April 30 1912 and the reverse text is Louisiana New Orleans. The front side of the coin shows a pelican in the center feeding young birds in the nest, a banner is wrapping below with text surrounding the brids, the main bird has its large wings spread in a form of protection. The backside of the coin depicts a map of Louisiana with text written over it, the map is shown in relief.
