The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads Presidency of U.S. Grant The Oceans United by Railway May 10, 1869. and the reverse text is Every Mountain shall be made low W barber F, Medal Series of the U.S. Mint J Pollock Director. The front side of the coin shows a bust of U.S. Grant facing the right in the center with one line of text surround and 3 lines of text below his bust. The backside of the coin depicts a train running through the center with a banner arching in the sky, the train is running through the mountains with a castle-like building off to the left and palm trees below.
