The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads Presidency of U.S. Grant The Oceans United by Railway May 10, 1869. and the reverse text is Every Mountain shall be made low W barber F, Medal Series of the U.S. Mint J Pollock Director. The front side of the coin shows a “naked” bust, referring to the fact that the bust appears to be unclothed, facing the right. The head is surrounded by text to either side and three lines below. The backside of the coin depicts mountains and a train with a banner above and plant life below. There is a church building to the left from which the train is originating..
