The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads Maine Launched at the Brooklyn Navy Yard Nov 18, 1890 and the reverse text is In commemoration of the officers and crew who perished in Havana Harbor Cuba on board the U.S.S. Battleship Maine Feb. 15th 1898. The front side of the coin shows a ship in the center that stretches from one side of the coin to the other, with text below and nothing above. The backside of the coin depicts several lines of text with 8 total stars scattered throughout.
