The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads Malleable Nickel First Produced in 1865 by Joseph Wharton S.D. L.L.D. and the reverse text is American malleable Nickel St. Louis Exposition International Nickel Company 1904. The front side of the coin shows a man’s bust in the center, who is identified as Joseph Wharton, with a long beard looking to the right. The backside of the coin depicts three lines of text in the center with stars or bursts above and below, with circular text surrounding.
