This unique medal pictures on the front a man, partially dressed and emitting coins as he smokes his pipe. The coins, some of which have wings, are spread about the left of the medal and some are flying away. Around the written, “Better in the wide world, than in the narrow stomach, or chest; Money where he speaks; Necessity breaks iron; i.e. knows no law. 22 per cent. 1714.” The 1714 date refers to the year Law first started his questionable speculative ventures. Reverse is merely written, “They either leave us or we leave them. A distinction must be made.”
