Value of 1763 Charleston Social Club Medal

This very rare, elliptical medal celebrates the Charlestown Social Club. Only three known examples exist for this medal, one of which resides at the Massachusetts Historical Society. Obverse depicts two men shaking hands. They wear colonial dress, tricorne hats, and carry canes. In the background are several trees, a body of water and a small town with a church across the water. The legend translates, “Bound in friendship.” The reverse simply states, “Social Club instituted Charles Town, South Carolina, 6 October, 1763.”
