This medal commemorates the bicentennial anniversary of the town of New Haven. The obverse displays a minister under a tree, preaching to a small crowd of settlers interspersed with Indians. The legend around the outer edge of the medal reads, “QUINNIPIACK 1683; THE DESERT SHALL REJOICE.” The reverse displays a stately building in the foreground. The legend around scene reads, “NEW HAVEN 1838; AND BLOSSOM AS THE ROSE BELOW.” Sadly, there was no follow-up medal struck for the 250th anniversary of the town.
