The Lowell Massachusetts Centennial medal displays a woman on the obverse. She is seated and she spins wool. The legend around her reads, “SHE SEEKETH WOOL AND FLAX AND WORKETH WILLINGLY WITH HER HANDS 1776.” The reverse displays three letters in the center, “W,A, and C”. Around them reads the legend, “ART IS THE HANDMAID OF HUMAN GOOD. LOWELL 1876.” The Mint records indicate that there were 10 gold, 200 silver, and 10 bronze medals struck in 1876.
