History, Information, and Value of 1892 U.S. Assay Commission Medal

This medal displays a left-facing, bearded bust of President Benjamin Harrison. The legend displays the President’s name. The reverse displays a woman teaching a child about scales. The legend states, “Mint of the United States Annual Assay, 1892.” The obverse design of Harrison was created solely for this medal. Restrikes of this medal occurred as late as 1907 as the original dies were broken and few were created.
